Pipe bands have long been associated
with fire departments throughout the United States. The bands,
which derive from the early Celtic heritage of many fire fighters
within the US, perform at events such as weddings, banquets
and the unfortunate funerals. In keeping with our borrowed
motto, “Brotherhood through Music,” the Montgomery
County Fire Fighters Pipes and Drums was formed in late November,
2004. Since then we have been meeting, organizing, and practicing
on a weekly basis.
As the idea of starting a band grew quickly, prospective members
were warned of the intense time commitment and cost that would
be involved. At this time, we are in dire need of financial
help as each band member has already spent out of pocket a
minimum of $2200.00. This figure only accounts for lessons,
instruments, and small parts of our uniforms. We anticipate
that additional uniform items will add to those costs as our
band grows. We are seeking help from individuals, local businesses,
or any other organization wishing to make a donation to help
offset our costs. The cost of these uniforms, equipment, and
anticipated travel expenses are just a few of the reasons
why donations are critical for our band to stay in existence.
A donation of $500 or more will reserve a special plaque on
our Bass Drum and your link here on this website for you as
a band sponsor. You may choose to use the plaque to memorialize
a family member or friend, or as advertisement for your business.
Our bass drum is carried with the band at all of our performances
and we would be proud to carry your message of support where
ever we go. Smaller amounts are also welcomed and appreciated,
and any donation above $250 will also receive a link and recognition
on this website. The band is sincerely grateful to all that
have generously contributed in the past, and we look forward
