Welcome to Montgomery County, MD Fire Fighters Pipes & Drums Band

The Montgomery County Firefighters Pipe Band Inc.

Organized in 2004, the Montgomery County Fire Fighters Pipes and Drums band is a non-profit organization comprised of public safety personnel who work within Montgomery County, Maryland. Our purpose is to display the true valor and prestige of the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service not only through excellence in music, but through pride in ourselves, our organization, and the community in which we serve.

Our goal is to preserve the Fire Departments Scottish and Irish heritages through the music of the great highland bagpipes and drums. With the commitment and dedication to our music and our motto “Brotherhood through Music”, we will strive to represent every aspect of the fire service and its tradition with respect and honor.

Sergeant Hector Ayala
On Friday, April 9th, members of the Pipe Band performed with other bands honoring MCPD officer, Sgt Hector Ayala.  Sgt Ayala passed away in the line of duty on Sunday, April 4, at approximately 2:21 a.m.  Montgomery County Police officers from the 4th District were responding to a large fight in progress.  An officer, who had arrived on the scene of the fight, radioed that he needed assistance and requested that additional officers respond.  While responding to assist his fellow officer, Officer Ayala was involved in a single-vehicle collision.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Officer Ayala, a 4th District midnight officer, was traveling westbound on Randolph Road approaching Denley Road.  For reasons still under investigation, the officer's 2003 Ford Crown Victoria left the roadway and struck a tree on the right side of the roadway in the 3000 block of Randolph Road.  Officer Ayala was transported to Holy Cross Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Officer Hector Ayala was a seven-year veteran of the Montgomery County Police Department.

The members of the MCFFP&D continue to keep Officer Hector Ayala's family members, friends and his extended MCPD family in our thoughts and prayers.

Donations to the Ayala Family

Donations to the Ayala Family may be made to the Montgomery County Law Enforcement Officers' Relief Fund (MCLEORF).  Checks should be made payable to MCLEORF.  Please list "Ayala Family" in the memo line of the check.  Send to:  MCLEORF, c/o:  FOP Lodge 35, 18512 Office Park Drive, Montgomery Village, MD  20886

St. Patricks Day in Savannah, GA!
Members of the band recently traveled down south to Savannha, GA to participate in the second largest St. Patrick's Day celebrations in the country!  The band joined ranks with several other bands from throughout the US to form one massed band known as the "National Fallen FF's Pipes and Drums".  This massed band was the "Grand Finale" of the 2.5 mile parade, where nearly half a million people gathered to watch and celebrate this awesome holiday.  The members of the MCFFP&D want to thank the other bands that joined us in Savannah for the great times!  Hope to see you there next year!
