Welcome to Montgomery County, MD Fire Fighters Pipes & Drums Band

The Montgomery County Firefighters Pipe Band Inc. is a not for profit organization whose purpose is to represent as a team, both our department and the community we serve. Organized in 2004, the band's goal is to display the true valor and prestige of the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service.

Excellence in music will be the standard at all performances. Pride for ourselves, our organization, our employer, and our community will be exhibited at every moment. Tradition, the backbone of the fire service, will ring through in every note, every step, and every wave of our banner.

MCFF Pipes and Drums Attends 2009 Annual MSFA Convention
The band made another appearance in Ocean City, MD this year for the annual Maryland State Fireman's Association Convention.  Members of the band enjoyed a great week of comraderie and awesome playing!!  We hooked up with the The Fire Brigade of Greater Baltimore Pipes and Drums on numerous events for the state association, local fire companies and counties, memorial funds and the general public promoting our motto "BROTHERHOOD THROUGH MUSIC!"

Events included the following:  MD Fallen Firefighters Memorial benefit at Fishtales, MSFA Opening Ceremonies, Scott Doyle Fundraiser at the Bearded Clam, Carroll County Hospitality House, OC Fallen Firefighters Memorial and march down the boardwalk, performances at the Bearded Clam and Cork Bar, the MSFA Convention Parade and the FOOLS Benefit at Seacrets!

For the first time ever, the MCFFPD and Fire Brigade teamed up to march together in the MSFA Parade.  Through our combined effort we together won the trophy for Best Appearing Band Overall!!!  What an accomplishment!!!  The $200 award that goes with it will proudly be donated to Brother Scott Doyle in his recovery!!!!  Brother, we missed you dearly down there and can't wait to have you piping with us again!!!!

All in all, it was an amazing week!!!  The band would like to thank EVERYONE who supported Scott and our band in OC!!!!

IMPORTANT! Doyle Donations
Effective tomorrow, Friday June 5th, at 1700hrs (5pm), the band will no longer be accepting donations for our former Pipe Major, Scott Doyle, via our paypal account.  We are currently working with his family and friends to set up another long-term means of collecting donations to support him and his family.  Once those details are finalized, we will post them here.

The band, along with Scott's family and friends, would like to thank everyone who has donated, and who continue to support the Doyle family during this trying time.

BROTHERHOOD!!!
The Montgomery County Firefighters Pipes and Drums band would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Boise Fire Department, IAFF Local 149, and the following Pipes and Drums organizations, that have assisted us and the Doyle family over the past 2 weeks:

- Boise Fire Pipes and Drums
- Boise Police Pipes and Drums
- Meridian Fire Pipes and Drums
- City of Tree’s Bagpipe Band
- Boise Highlander’s

The members of the Boise Fire and Police Departments, and the members of the bands listed above have set the bar for a fire department tradition that, at times, seems to have gone to the wayside- “brotherhood”. I will echo the comments of our Local’s President, John Sparks, that words simply cannot express our gratitude. The hospitality you have shown and the efforts put forth to assist the Doyle family are unparallel to any we have seen. Although we are excited to have Scott back home, we will not forget the care and concern that Boise showed him and his family while he was treated at St Alphonsus. From the bottom of our hearts, we cannot thank you enough.

We look forward to the day that we can further express our appreciation or provide the same hospitality for you and your members as you did for ours- under better circumstances, of course.

To the membership, fans and supporters of Montgomery County, Maryland Firefighters Pipes and Drums, I would like to thank you for all your support and ask for your continued support as we work through a very tough and emotional time with the band. Past Pipe Major Scott Doyle was involved in a tragic BASE  jumping accident on Mother's Day. At this time his wife Steph,  his mom and dad and other family members are at his side while as he remains in an unconscious state. At this time, we would like you all to keep the Doyle family in your thoughts and prayers.

The band, along with the Montgomery County, MD Fire and Rescue Service, are supporting the family from many angles. It has been requested that there be no flowers or visitors at this time.

Please visit www.supportscott.org for more information.  If you would like more information on Scott’s status please feel free to contact the band though our website  and we will try and accommodate you.

A special thanks to the jumpers at Skydive Delmarva.  Bobby and his fellow jumpers raised $1100.00 by selling 20 wristbands.  You guys and gals ROCK!

Band Welcomes Loudon County Fire/Rescue Recruit Class 24 to The Field
On Friday evening, May 22nd, the Montgomery County Firefighters Pipes and Drums had the honor of playing for the recruit graduation of Loundon County.  We were warmly welcomed by all that attended as the 25 fine members of Recruit Class #24 walked across stage to receive their certificates and fire helmets.  The band wishes each and every graduate a safe and fulfilling career and also recognize the instructors that were able to prepare them for the job.

As all of our performances lately, we dedicated this one again to former Pipe Major Scott Doyle in hopes that he will recover as soon as possible!!

Band Makes the Rounds on St. patty's Day
Tuesday, March 17, 2009
-
Well how do you celebrate Saint Patrick's Days without some bagpipers and drummers running around making noise??  That's exactly what members of the band helped out with this past Tuesday on our annual St. Patrick's Day Bus Hop!

Members and friends of the band started the day out in Frederick at Bushwaller's Irish Pub to a cheering crowd.  From there it was South into our home of Montgomery County, stopping at the Greene Turtle in Germantown.  Austin Grille of Rockville was next where the band marched in to a packed house.  A special thanks to the Austin Grille crew who managed our appetites with some amazing food!!  Also a shout out to the 3D and 3V crews from the downtown Rockville Fire Station #3 for dropping by.

It was off to Bethesda after that with some time at the Barking Dog on Elm Street.  The place was packed and ready for some pipe and drum music.  Next stop was Union Jacks where the rolled into the ole' English style pub rockin' some Scottish and Irish music!!  It was all walking from there as we meandered over to Flanagans Harp and Fiddle.  The crowd was a mad house and we had to make our way through from the outside in to the stage.  Good ole' Irish times!!  Our final stop for the night was Black Finn where we closed the night out to everyone celebrating St. Patrick's Day!!

A special thanks to ALL the establishments who let us play, the crowds that cheered us on and our band friends who came along for the ride and helped us out!!!  See ya next year!!
